Fatal crash in McKinley County

On Sunday, July 29, around 2:00 p.m. the New Mexico State Police investigated a fatal crash on Interstate 40 west of Grants.  

Through the investigation, a 2010 Ford pickup was traveling east on I-40.  The Ford left the roadway and collided with an overpass support barrier. 

The passenger Mary Barrett Miller, 63, sustained fatal injuries, and was pronounced deceased on scene. The driver, a sixty-two-year-old male was airlifted to an area trauma center with unknown injuries. 

Alcohol does not appear to be a contributing factor to the crash and seatbelts was properly utilized. 

There were no other vehicles involved. The crash is still under investigation.
