LUBBOCK, Texas -

(Press Release)

The Lubbock Municipal Garden and Arts Center (GAC) will host a reception on Friday, August 3rd, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for the opening of The Three Martins. The exhibit is free and open to the public. The Three Martins is an exhibit in remembrance of the late Conny Martin and C. B. Martin and will also include the works of their daughter, Jody Martin.

Conny Martin (1925-2010) was a beloved artist, poet, and art educator. She was a driving force for art in southwest Texas. She was instrumental in the creation of the Louise Hopkins Underwood Center for the Arts in Lubbock, as well as a charter member and three-term president of the Lubbock Art Association.

C.B. Martin (1924-2018) was a well-known World War II veteran and one of the original Honor Flight members from Lubbock. He married Conny in 1945, and they traveled the world together. He began painting in watercolor 18 years ago, and most of his subject matter was from their travels.

Jody Martin, whose art will also be featured in the show, is daughter of C.B. and Conny and began painting and teaching art while in college. She has been represented by galleries in Dallas and Colorado Springs, and has exhibited with the Pastel Society of America in New York. Recently Jody has been awarded Best of Show by the Austin Pastel Society, Award of Excellence by the Pastel Society of New Mexico, and “FAV 15” by the Bold Brush International Competition.
