Changes ahead (and they're good)

Changes ahead (and they're good)

It's days like this that I jam to some David Bowie in the weather center because ch-ch-ch-ch-changes are ahead! Good changes as well! Next week will start cooler and wetter, to aspects of the climate that we desperately need. No more 100s this week!

Tonight, expect some partly cloudy skies with low temperatures near 70 degrees, and a south wind around 10mph. We could see a stray thunderstorm as early as tonight. The better chance of rain arrives tomorrow, with some possible showers in the morning, and scattered showers and storms in the afternoon. This is due to a slow moving cold front that has finally picked up a little momentum. This, along with a developing low in the panhandle will dig into the south plains enhancing our chances for rain and cooling us down a bit. A strong storm isn't impossible either, but I don't expect many. Best chance for that will likely remain west of Lubbock and more in New Mexico. Expect a high Monday of only 88 with NE winds 10-15mph.

Some nights may be as low as the low 60s. Beyond that, temperatures climb back up, but only to average levels in the low 90s and upper 60s. An afternoon or two may also bring a few isolated storms, but Monday is again the best chance.
