Hotter with a low chance for a storm this weekend

Posted: Updated:
LUBBOCK, Texas -

MORE RAIN: There were a few small showers early this morning, including around Lubbock. Most locations got just a few hundredths of an inch, though rain was a little better over the western South Plains.

Then this afternoon a few small showers and storms have popped up to the south and southeast of the city. There's little movement on the storms. These should fade as things cool down this evening.

7-day forecast

TONIGHT: Slight chance for a shower or storm, low near 69.

SATURDAY: Hotter with more sun. We still can't rule out an isolated shower or storm, but it's not much of a chance. High 97, wind S/SW 5-15mph.

SUNDAY: Nearly a repeat of Saturday...low chance for a storm with lots of sun. If it climbs to 100 this weekend it'll be the 25th time to reach at least 100 at the Lubbock airport this year.

BETTER RAIN CHANCE: The rain chance climbs to about 30% late Sunday night into Monday. Behind the next front that moves through it won't be as hot. Right now we're not certain if the front will move through early Monday or hold off on the afternoon. That'll influence how hot it gets Monday. Tuesday should drop back to the mid to upper 80s.

Late next week it'll trend hotter with more sun.

7-day forecast

I hope you have a great weekend. Robert will have the next forecast update here Saturday.
