We had a few light and spotty showers around Lubbock early this morning. The western half of the South Plains still has some of this activity. These showers are diminishing as the move southwest.
TODAY: High near 92, low chance for showers and storms with a partly cloudy sky.
If traveling north to the Texas Panhandle there is a chance for severe weather later today and tonight. Stay weather aware if heading that way.
TONIGHT: Low near 67 and partly cloudy. Some showers and storms may make it to the northern counties overnight.
HOT WEEKEND: Highs will be climbing back closer to the 100s both days with a mostly sunny sky.
NEXT STORM CHANCE: Late Sunday and Monday a cold front will push through the area. Like we seen yesterday this will bring a chance for some showers and storms for the area. Temperatures will also be dropping again to the mid and upper 80s through mid week.
Have a great Friday and stay cool this weekend. Matt will have the latest updated forecast for the News at Nine.
