LUBBOCK, Texas -

Following the loss of David Nelson, 67, cyclists gathered to mourn his death with a ghost ride.

The former City Councilman and Lubbock County Court at Law No. 3 judge elect, was killed after his bicycle was struck by a pickup truck about 8 a.m. Wednesday, July 19.

Ainsley Nelson, wife of David, donated one of his old bikes and painted it white.

Participants started at the Frenship Ag barn and rode, in silence, 6 miles to the scene of the accident. The white bike was placed on site along with a plaque in his honor. Following the ghost ride a memorial service was held.
