WELCOME RAIN: The western half of our area received some great rain this morning. It was much less here in Lubbock, less than 1/10". But we'll take any rain we can get and any break from the heat. With the clouds it's stayed in the 80s this afternoon.
Here are some of the top rain totals through 3:15 p.m. on the Texas Tech Mesonet:
Denver City 0.51"
REST OF TODAY: The atmosphere is stable across our area. There still could be a few isolated showers or storms farther southeast of Lubbock this afternoon/evening.
Then, later tonight, we'll keep a slight chance for a shower or storm across the area. Low in the mid 60s.
FRIDAY: High near 91, partly cloudy. Just a slight chance for a shower or storm.
WEEKEND: It'll be hotter both Saturday and Sunday with lots of sun, both days mid to upper 90s.
NEXT WEEK: Another front is expected to move across the area late Sunday/early Monday. This will knock the temperature down again early next week and also bring a chance for some rain.
The second half of next week should climb back to the mid to upper 90s with lots of sun.
Have a great rest of the day. Bobby's updated forecast will be posted here tomorrow morning.
