Better rain chance Thursday

Better rain chance Thursday

Posted: Updated:
LUBBOCK, Texas -

THIS AFTERNOON: It's hotter today, mid 90s across much of our area with it up around 100 to the southeast near Snyder. But a sign of some relief is it's in the 70s across parts of Nebraska, behind a front that's headed this way. This afternoon there are some storms in Northeast New Mexico and Southeast Colorado.

South Plains radar

Like the past few nights, some of these storms may get to the western part of our area by early morning.

TONIGHT: Partly cloudy, low 71.

TOMORROW: A change of pace. A front will move through, shifting the wind out of the N/NE 10-16mph. Clouds will increase and we have a pretty good chance for some showers and storms during the afternoon and evening. High near 91.

NEXT FEW DAYS: The N/NE wind will linger into Friday. We'll also have a lot of clouds around, though the rain chance is lower Friday. With the clouds it should only reach the upper 80s.

The weekend will turn hotter with more sun. We might see a few storms in the area Sunday night. With the next front arriving the chance for rain/storms gets a little better again on Monday.

Longer-range guidance shows it climbing back to the mid to upper 90s second half of next week.

7-day forecast

Have a great rest of your day. Bobby will have a full update to the forecast here early tomorrow.
