Hotter Wednesday, better rain chance Thursday

LUBBOCK, Texas -

BREAK FROM THE HEAT: It's not cold. It's still actually somewhat hot. But we do have a nice break today, through 4:30 it's reached 90 in Lubbock with a lot of clouds. Some showers and storms that were in New Mexico late last night reached the northwestern South Plains this morning. Since then there have been a few sprinkles moving south from the Panhandle to the South Plains.

South Plains radar

What's out there probably won't last too much longer into the evening.

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy, low 69. Wind E 5-10mph. An isolated shower or storm is possible west.

TOMORROW: Warmer with more sun, high near 95. Wind SSE 6-12mph. There's a slight chance for a shower or storm late Wednesday evening to early Thursday.

BETTER STORM CHANCE: The high pressure ridge to our west will move farther west and will help push another front into our area. The chance for rain looks better Thursday into early Friday. Both Thursday and Friday should only reach about 90.

It does look hotter this weekend with more sun, before another drop in the temp Monday and Tuesday.

7-day forecast

Have a great rest of your day. Bobby will have a full update to the forecast early tomorrow.
