Lincoln County, NM -

On Sunday, July 22, at about 3:00 p.m. the New Mexico State Police investigated a fatal crash on US Highway 70 around mile post 307 between Hondo and Roswell.

The initial investigation indicated a 2016 Chevy Pickup was traveling east on US 70.

For reasons still under investigation, the Chevy crossed the center line into opposing west bound traffic and collided head-on with a 2011 Buick Lacrosse.  The driver of the Buick Lacrosse Daniel N. Uranga, 69, sustained fatal injuries, and was pronounced deceased.

The driver of the Chevy, a 23-year-old male, along with two passengers in the Chevy, a 24-year-old female and a 5-month-old, were all taken to an area hospital for injuries not believed to be life threatening.

Alcohol does not appear to be a contributing factor to the crash and seatbelts were properly utilized.

The crash is still under investigation.
