We tied the record yesterday afternoon at 103°.
TODAY: We have dry air across the area and this will allow us to warm up quickly today. High nearing 105, nearing 110 degrees off the Caprock. Heat advisory is in effect from noon to 9PM, for these extreme temperatures. South/southwest wind 8-15mph. Stay hydrated, cool, and wear sunscreen.
EXTENDED: Hot, hot, hot! The ridge of higher pressure will move across the area through the weekend. This will leave us with the highs in the 100s, lows will stay mind in the lower to mid 70s.
Next week the ridge will be moving west again and this will let a cold front to pass through our area. Temperatures are expected to drop to near the average by Tuesday. This front may also bring some rain to parts of the South Plains. For now it looks like a better chance later Monday into early Tuesday.
Join us on Good Day Lubbock until 9am. Robert will be filling in tonight on the News at Nine. Have a great Thursday!
