Warmest decade on record for Lubbock

Warmest decade on record for Lubbock

Posted: Updated:
LUBBOCK, Texas -

Since Lubbock records began in 1914 we have more days where temperatures have been 100° or warmer in this decade. We have had 19 100° or greater days this year with 9 new daily records broken.

TODAY: We will start warming up quickly with temperatures in the mid 90s by lunch time. High near 102, record at 103, southwest wind 8-15mph.

EXTENDED: A lot more days to add to our 100 degree totals this week and into the weekend. Expect the warmer temperatures for the eastern half of the area. Overnight lows will also stay mild in the lower to mid 70s. Find ways to stay cool and stay hydrated! Remember to always check for children in the car before walking away.

The ridge of high pressure will push westward allowing a front to move through the area. This will bring a chance for some storms and a little bit of a cool down next week. Still a little bit out, but hoping it comes to fruition.

Join us on Good Day Lubbock until 9am. Robert will have the next update to the forecast tonight on the News at Nine. Have a great Wednesday!
