Even hotter temperatures ahead

Posted: Updated:

Yesterday afternoon a few storms brought a little relief to parts of the area. Tech Mesonet recorded a few totals:
Guthrie 0.30"
Memphis 0.20"
Levelland 0.15"
Muleshoe 0.15"
Snyder 0.14"
Friona 0.02"
Sundown, Brownfield, & Dimmitt 0.01"

TODAY: Lower the chance for rain and increase the heat. High near 97, mostly sunny sky with a light Southwest/south wind 6-12mph. Temperatures will be in the upper 80s and lower 90s by lunch. Stay hydrated and wear sunscreen if you have to be outside.

Just be glad you are not in South Texas as they will be dealing with the heat and Gulf moisture.

EXTENDED HIGHS: For the rest of the week and weekend highs will be in the upper 90s and lower 100s. Hottest afternoon looks to be on Thursday as a ridge of higher pressure builds from the western US.

EXTENDED LOWS: Very comfortable in the lower to mid 70s, with a clear sky and light wind continuing.

Join us on Good Day Lubbock until 9am. Robert will be filling in for Matt tonight on the News at Nine. Have a great Tuesday and again stay hydrated!
