LUBBOCK, Texas -

(Press release)

On Tuesday, at approximately 10:40p.m., the Lubbock Police Department received reports of shots fired in the 2000 block of 17th Street.

As officers were responding to that area, a female gunshot victim called police and told dispatch she was at a gas station located at 15th Street and University. Officers and an ambulance responded to the victim’s location. The 18-year-old female was then taken to the hospital with moderate injuries.

Through the initial investigation, it appears the female victim was outside a residence in the 2000 block of 17th street when several shots were fired toward the home. The suspect or suspects then fled in a vehicle.

After the victim was struck, she quickly got into a vehicle and left the area, stopping at the gas station to wait for officers and an ambulance.

No other injuries were reported.

Officers were unable to locate the suspect or suspects in the area, and LPD investigators are working to gather more information on the case. It’s possible this case is related to an ongoing dispute.

Lubbock Texas Anti-Gang Center (TAG) investigators are also assisting with this case.
