American Red Cross introduces Executive Director

The American Red Cross introduced Deborah Finlayson as the executive director for the American Red Cross Serving Texas South Plains. Finlayson will be based in Lubbock, Texas, where she will oversee Red Cross programs and services for nearly 420,000 people in Bailey, Cochran, Crosby, Dickens, Floyd, Garza, Hale, Hockley, King, Lamb, Lubbock, Lynn, Motley, Terry and Yoakum counties.

“We are extremely excited that Deborah joined the American Red Cross North Texas team,” said Keith Rhodes, CEO, American Red Cross North Texas Region. “Her volunteer spirit, personal connection with the community and extensive experience working with volunteers and board members will help to build and maintain strong relationships in the South Plains.”

Prior to joining the Red Cross, Finlayson worked for the YWCA of Lubbock and spent 24 years at Texas Tech University System where she garnered experience in volunteer growth, fundraising and board and community relations. Through her volunteerism, she oversaw the fundraising for and construction of a $2 million project for the Delta Gamma sorority on the Texas Tech campus. Finlayson is a member and past president of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

Finlayson has a bachelor’s degree in public relations from Texas Tech University.

“It will be a great honor to work with the board, partners and volunteers in the American Red Cross Texas South Plains chapter,” Finlayson said. “As a child, I was a Junior Red Cross volunteer at the hospital on Sheppard Air Force Base and have witnessed the dedication and hard work of those involved in the Red Cross. I am excited to rejoin the organization and to continue building strong relations between the Red Cross and the community.”
