El Paso man convicted for drug smuggling

EL PASO, Texas -

A Lubbock federal jury convicts an El Paso man for drug smuggling.

Enrique Rodriguez, 37, guilty of three counts: conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute controlled substances, possession with intent to distribute one kilogram or more of heroin, and possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine.

Rodriguez was caught smuggling 1,000 lbs in heroin and cocaine. 

He will be sentenced after a guidelines review.
