LUBBOCK, Texas -

THIS AFTERNOON: We once again have some showers and storms that have popped up this afternoon. While coverage is fairly limited, these storms are bringing good rainfall to areas south of Lubbock in Lynn County. More storms are in New Mexico slowly spreading to the east.

We'll keep a chance for a shower or storm into late tonight. Low tonight near 70, mostly cloudy.

Looking back last night into today, there are some pretty good rain totals in spots. Here are 24-hour totals from the Texas Tech Mesonet through 5 p.m. Monday:

TUESDAY: Hotter than today, high near 96. Wind S/SE 8-16mph. There is a slight chance for a shower or storm during the afternoon west of Lubbock.

REST OF THE WEEK: It'll be hotter and sunny on the Fourth of July, high near 98. Be sure you're prepared for the heat if you're going to be outside for a Fourth of July celebration. It'll even be fairly warm for us in the Fourth on Broadway Parade in the morning.

An upper-level disturbance will be moving from east to west across the region next few days. Tomorrow it'll bring rain to Louisiana. By Thursday night it may help bring a few showers or storms to our area. We have a slight chance for a shower or storm here late Thursday and again Friday and Saturday. It won't be quite as hot that during that time.

7-day forecast

Have a great rest of your day. Bobby will have a full update to the forecast here early in the morning.
