LUBBOCK, Texas -

La Raza on the Plaza, one of the largest summer concerts in Lubbock, hosted by Magic 106.5 is Saturday, June 30.

One of Lubbock's own will be taking the stage for the first time after performing with some of the biggest names in the Tejano music industry. J.R y Los Conjunto Bandits are making a pit stop in Lubbock for the first time as a group to perform.

"You know when Chismosa told me hey we want you for Raza at the Plaza, I was like I am there," said J.R. Gomez, lead vocalist and accordionist. "I want to perform for Lubbock you know , this is where I was raised this is where you know I went to school, I'm ready to come home and jam."

J.R found great success with the big timers after he got his big break when he was 16. He played with La Fiebre, a well-known Tejano group in the 90's.

"I joined them and then from there I was playing with bigger bands, Jay Perez, Cumbia Kings, AB Quintanilla, and then of course Jimmy Gonzalez who just passed away," said Gomez. "I was you know with him for many years."

Shelly Lares, Raymond Orta, Eddie Gonzalez, and La Fiebre will also join J.R y Los Conjunto Bandits on stage. Raza at the Plaza will be on the lawn of the county court house in down town, doors open at 3 pm.
