 Updated June 25, 5:23 p.m.

Texas Department of Transportation closed i-27 main lanes to conduct crash scene investigation for the fatal car crash that killed a man last week.

Joshua Elgoff, 22, was speeding northbound near Regis street, lost control of his car and skidded into a pole in the median.

Elgoff, not wearing his seat belt, was ejected from the car and killed on impact. TX-DOT said the closure is to ensure a safe and thorough investigation for troopers.

The investigation began at 9 a.m. until troopers concluded their investigation.

(Press Release)

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is scheduled to close the I-27 mainlanes, from mile markers 9 to 11, to traffic on Monday morning, June 25, to allow the Texas Department of Public Safety (TxDPS) to safely conduct a crash scene investigation.

Both the north-and southbound mainlanes will be closed and all traffic will be detoured onto the I-27 frontage roads. Drivers should anticipate delays.

The closure is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. and expected to remain in place until 3 p.m. or when troopers conclude their investigation. Motorists are advised to stay alert and to watch out for TxDOT crews setting up the closure.
