Not as hot this weekend, storm chance returns

Posted: Updated:
LUBBOCK, Texas -

THIS AFTERNOON: It's another hot day, with mid 90s around the South Plains. There were some early-morning showers to the northeast of Lubbock that dropped 1/10" to 3/10" of rain. This afternoon the good rain show has been across New Mexico. There's a low probability of a storm making it east of the state line tonight. More likely our area will stay dry and mostly clear.

TONIGHT: Low near 70, wind S 10-18mph.

FRIDAY: Another hot and mostly sunny day, most likely missing the rain. High near 95, wind S 10-20mph.

WEEKEND: Saturday during the daytime hours will probably stay dry, high near 91. We do have a chance for storms later Saturday night into Sunday morning.

We'll again have a chance for storms Sunday afternoon. It won't be quite as hot on Father's Day with more clouds, high in the upper 80s.

NEXT WEEK: With humidity in place and some support for storm development each day, there's a chance for afternoon and evening storms each day Monday through Thursday. The high temp should stay below average, upper 80s to lower 90s. This far out it's tough to nail down a single day with a better chance. But it's definitely a good sign to at least have a chance each day.

7-day forecast

Have a great rest of your day. Bobby will have a full update to the forecast here early tomorrow.
