LUBBOCK, Texas -

A judge heard testimony Wednesday from the victim who was savagely beaten by her boyfriend for downloading and using SnapChat.

Solidad Torres testified in the sentencing phase for Dameon Marmolejo, 21. He pleaded guilty to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for attacking Torres in June 2017, after she downloaded the app.

Torrest testified she downloaded it to send pictures to her family, with no bad intentions. Torres told the judge she came home and Marmolejo seemed angry and proceeded to hit her.

Torres pushed him back and tried to flee. Before she could make it to the door, Marmolejo stomped on her back, grabbed her hair and slammed her head against the bathtub multiple times. A picture of the bathtub shows a nine- to 10-inch puddle of blood.

An ex-girlfriend testified Marmolejo assaulted her as well. She revealed the only way she felt she could get out of the relationship was to kill herself.

The defense brought in former girlfriend and mother of Marmolejo's daughter, Chelsea Martinez. Martinez said Marmolejo assaulted her once, but she was not seriously injured. She added, when he visits their child he is always attentive.

The sentencing phase continues Thursday morning.
