South Plains Food Bank continues its Summer of Sharing

LUBBOCK, Texas -

The South Plains Food Bank bagged potatoes for those who are food deficient. Volunteers with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints provided and helped distribute thousands of pounds of spuds as part of the food bank's summer of sharing.

"Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints very generously donated over for 40 thousand pounds of bulk potatoes, so they're going to have 250 to 300 volunteers here to show up and help us put these potatoes into five-pound bags," David Weaver of the South Plains Food Bank said.

Donations can be made at any Lowe's Supermarkets, Food King, Plains Capital Bank, West Texas Chevy Dealers, or Covenant. The food drive will continue through June 25th.
