Former Ralls teacher indicted, Lubbock man charged with animal abuse

LUBBOCK, Texas -

A Lubbock grand jury has indicted a former teacher on a charge of improper relationship between an educator and a student.

Robert Moore, now 30, resigned as a teacher from Ralls High School in September 2015, around the time of his arrest. But, according to court documents, the improper relationship was with a student at Smylie Wilson Middle School in Lubbock, where he had previously taught.

Documents show he sent the eighth grader 98 messages. An undercover Lubbock ISD officer posed as the underage victim and reportedly communicated with Moore online to gather evidence. A district spokesperson says police believe Moore only contacted the one student.

Moore was previously charged with online solicitation of a minor. Prosecutors believe that did not properly fit the alleged crime and changed to the current charge of improper relationship between an educator and a student.

Animal cruelty indictment

Jaleen Tennison, 21, is indicted on a charge of cruelty to animals/torture.

According to a warrant, a neighbor saw Tennison repeatedly beat and kick his dog and even through the animal over a fence, a distance of 10 to 20 feet.

Court documents show the responding officer found the dog severely injured. The suspect told police he was abused as a child and believed this was the correct way to discipline animals.
