Yesterday we broke the record high temperature at 106 degrees. It is a mild start this morning with a outflow boundary moving across the area. This is bringing a northwest wind 5-15mph and will continue through late morning.
TODAY: This outflow may help keep temperatures a few degrees cooler, but it is still going to be HOT! High near 103, that will break the previous record of 102 degrees. Southwest wind will return about 5-15mph.
TONIGHT: Low near 72, mostly clear sky.
FRIDAY: Expect even warmer temperatures across the area. Near 106 for Lubbock, warming near 110 off the Caprock. Models showing maybe some rain chances late afternoon/evening. Don't expect much in precipitation if any at all.
WEEKEND: A bit cooler with a front moving into the area Saturday. This will drop the highs to near average on Sunday. A disturbance will bring a slight chance for storms by late Sunday into early Monday. Again not expecting much, but any relief from the heat is nice.
EXTENDED: Enjoy the "cooler" weekend, 100+ degrees returning next week.
Join us on Good Day until 9am. Matt will have the next forecast on the News at Nine. Have a great Thursday, stay hydrated and safe in this heat.
