Even hotter rest of the week

Even hotter rest of the week

Posted: Updated:
LUBBOCK, Texas -

High yesterday reached 100 degrees. Sunny sky this morning with temperatures are starting off nice with a light south wind 5-15mph.

TODAY: Warmer temperatures expected with highs in the 100-108 degree range across most of the area. Lubbock high near 104, this would beat the previous record of 103.

Heat Advisory in effect this afternoon for Lubbock and other counties. Stay hydrated and keep out of the direct sun as much as possible.
Know the signs of heat stroke to prevent heat related deaths.
-Throbbing headache
-Lack of sweating/ redness, hot, dry skin
-Dizziness
-Nausea and vomiting
-Rapid heartbeat

TONIGHT: Low near 68, mostly clear sky.

REST OF WEEK: Continued warming near 105 through Friday. There might be a chance for a few storms, nothing promising late Friday.

EXTENDED: Some "cooler" temperatures this weekend. Highs will be in the 90s still above average for this time of year. The high pressure system that is bringing the hot temperatures this week will weaken a little. This will let a system move across the area bring us another slight chance for storms Sunday. Quickly drying out and warming up next week.

Matt will have the next updated tonight on the News at Nine. Have a great Wednesday!
-Bobby
