Pancake breakfast celebrates veterans' service

LUBBOCK, Texas -

Area veterans and their families attended a pancake and sausage breakfast at the American Legion George S. Berry Post 575.

The breakfast is hosted annually by the "Legionnaires."

While the organization supports veterans year-round, honoring them on Memorial Day is also important.

"They just gave their whole heart and soul and they're a great bunch of guys. I have a lot of fun out here. We have camaraderie like you wouldn't believe. It's great being out here and talking with all the vets," said Tony Heinen, Commander of the Sons of the American Legion.

The American Legion is the most active veteran's organization, fighting to protect the rights of veterans earned through their military service.
