Few storms possible today, much warmer this weekend

LUBBOCK, Texas -

Yesterday ended with some showers and a few thunderstorms across the area. Most of the severe weather was in New Mexico during the day. Here are some of the rainfall totals across the area through 5am from Tech Mesonet:

Hobbs NM 0.44"
Morton 0.29"
Seminole 0.29"
Olton 0.20"
Brownfield 0.20"
Denver City 0.15"
Gail & Reese Center  0.07"
Lubbock 0.03"

TODAY: High near 90, mostly sunny with a light breeze from the south 10-15mph. A few isolated storms possible later this afternoon and evening hours. 


TONIGHT: Storm chances will come to an end before midnight. Low near 67, mostly to partly clear sky.

MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND: Much warmer and above average with highs in the upper 90s, lower 100s. A few isolated storms possible Sunday and Monday, wind should pick up a little bit as well 10-20mph as well.
