Chance for storms late tonight, hotter for Memorial Day

Chance for storms late tonight, hotter for Memorial Day

Posted: Updated:
LUBBOCK, Texas -

THIS AFTERNOON: Storms have again developed in Central New Mexico, though not as many as yesterday. There are also a few showers trying to develop up in the Panhandle. Last night into early this morning storms made it to the state line but just about fell apart east of there. 1/2" to 1" of rain fell from Clovis to Dora. But only a few hundredths over the western South Plains, nothing in Lubbock.

West Texas radar

TONIGHT: We'll keep a chance for a shower or storm, low near 64. Once again the chance for storms gets lower the farther east you move away from New Mexico.

WEDNESDAY: Similar to today, high in the mid 80s with some clouds. Wind S/SE 8-15mph. There is a chance for storm development in our area as well as storms moving in from New Mexico. But it's only a 30% chance you'll get a storm in Lubbock.

WARMING UP: The rain chance will drop lower late this week into the weekend. There might be enough moisture in place for an isolated storm each afternoon, but it's not much of a chance. The high will climb up around 100 this weekend and on Memorial Day. Longer-range guidance keeps it pretty toasty through next week.

7-day forecast

Have a great rest of your day. Bobby will have a full update to the forecast early tomorrow.
