Young Entrepreneurs graduate as CEOs

LUBBOCK, Texas -

The Lubbock Chamber of Commerce graduates 16 middle and high school students from its Young Entrepreneurs Academy.

This 30 week program guides the students through the process of starting their own businesses, including developing a business plan, pitching to and landing investors, all the way to business events and trade shows.

Logan Sanders developed a software suite specifically for non profits to organize operations and volunteers.

"Now, in the Lubbock community, if you say you did the young entrepreneurs' academy, people recognize that and understand it's a challenge and that it really means something," Sanders said. "We had many applications, fewer make the class, and fewer stick with it to here. It's a lot of work, but it really pays off in the end."

Applications are now open for next year's class. The session runs through most of the school year, from late October through May, meeting three hours a week. The final deadline is July 30th.
