Jackson named South Plains College distinguished alumnus

LUBBOCK, Texas -

South Plains College has named Rear Admiral Ronny Jackson a distinguished alumnus.

He's a former White House physician and deputy assistant to the President. This is the college's highest honor for a former student.

SPC honored his outstanding career accomplishments and his 12 years of service as the President's doctor.

Admiral Jackson requested no media presence at the event.

He was President Trump's nominee to lead the Department of Veterans Affairs before withdrawing from consideration. The President says Washington treated Admiral Jackson very unfairly.

He was accused of being intoxicated during an overseas trip, loosely handling prescription pain medications and creating a toxic work environment. He has denied the allegations and the White House has backed him up.

Jackson returned to the White House medical unit, but not as the President's physician.
