Near record breaking temperatures

Posted: Updated:

Mostly clear this morning with temperatures in the 60s. South wind has stayed a light breeze overnight about 10-15mph.

TODAY: High near 98, mostly to partly cloudy. Red Flag Warning in effect 12-9PM as the dry, south wind picks up 15-28mph. Record for the day is 99° set back in 2000.

TONIGHT: Low near 66, south wind staying breezy to windy around 20-30mph.

HOT DAYS: We will continue to be close to record breaking temperatures through Saturday. Very low chances for storms but due to day time heating some isolated storms may develop in the Rolling Plains. South wind will stay strong Friday, then calm a little Saturday.

NEXT WEEK: Chance for storms starting Sunday and continuing into Tuesday. Long range models are still a little indecisive on where the best chance id and how much rain we may see. Temperatures will also be dropping to the lower 90s and upper 80s, still above average for this time of year.

Join us on Good Day Lubbock until 9am. Matt will have the next update tonight on the News at Nine. Have a great Thursday!
