Three minors are in custody accused of robbing Plainview convenience stores. Investigators believe boys have hit stores three times this year.
A Plainview PD officer was stopped by two women reporting a store in the 1000 block of West Fifth was being robbed. The officer saw two suspects running from the store; they were quickly stopped by other responding officers.
Jose Gregorio Mata, 17, and a 13-year-old were arrested. They are facing charges of aggravated robbery and evading detention. The 13-year-old is now in the custody of the Juvenile Probation Department.
Information gathered during this investigation led to the arrest of an 11-year-old, accused of robbing a convenience store in the 600 block of South Broadway in late February. Witnesses said the robber was wearing a red ski mask and appeared to be very young.
A few weeks later, this same store was robbed. Witnesses said the robber was real young and met up with two other boys then got away in a neighborhood.
