FREEZING START: It was a very cold start this morning. Lubbock dropped to 27. That's not a record for the date. And the average last freeze here is April 9. Here are some other readings from the Texas Tech Mesonet:
Reese Center 26
Since then the clouds have been slow to clear, which has kept it colder than forecast.
TONIGHT: Chilly once again, but not as cold as last night. Low near 35 in Lubbock with a freeze likely north and east of the city.
WINDY SUNDAY: Clouds will diminish through the morning with stronger wind in the afternoon, SW/W 20-30mph. High wildfire risk through the afternoon. High temp near 84 in Lubbock, even warmer southwest and cooler east.
NEXT WEEK: Monday and Tuesday will be slightly cooler with the high in the lower 70s. It'll get a lot warmer late week, with 90s on Thursday. The wind will also get stronger late in the week, with computers right now showing a particularly windy day Friday.
Have a great rest of your weekend. Look for the next update here late Sunday.
