updated 5:09 p.m. - A few showers have popped up over the western South Plains. These will move east fairly quickly. It won't be much rain, but at least a few showers and possibly storms will move across the area next few hours.
posted 3:52 p.m. - NICE RAIN: We picked up 0.78" of rain at the Lubbock airport yesterday into early this morning. It's definitely needed. It brings the yearly total to 1.07". And these are dry months...on the year we're just over 1.25" below the average.
Here are some other totals from the Texas Tech Mesonet:
Reese Center 0.96"
New Home 0.95"
Near Texas Tech 0.94"
White River Lake 0.84"
Unfortunately, not everyone saw the soaking rain. The rain was much lighter both farther southeast and well as west.
THIS AFTERNOON: It's cleared out. With some sun creating a small bit of instability and a weak disturbance moving this way, we may see a few isolated showers or storms late this afternoon into this evening. If anything develops it'll be isolated.
TONIGHT: Low 41, partly cloudy. Wind S/W 5-10mph.
TOMORROW: Gusty north wind to start the day, around 25mph with higher gusts. This will drop the wind chill into the 30s. The wind will diminish through the day. Mostly sunny, high 63.
WARMER DAYS: It'll climb back to the lower 70s on Friday, then near 80 and breezy Saturday.
A front will drop the temperature again on Easter. That morning's sunrise at 7:35, temp near 40. Sunday afternoon should only reach the mid 60s. Then it'll quickly warm up again to begin next week.
Have a great rest of your day. Bobby will have an update to the forecast here early tomorrow.
