Strong wind through today, mild weekend

Posted: Updated:
LUBBOCK, Texas -

Strong wind continuing this morning with some mild temperatures. If you smell smoke this morning it is from a fire that burned up to 2,500 acres near Whiteface yesterday. This fire is 100% contained.

TODAY: High near 75, mostly sunny. Red Flag Warning from 11AM to 9PM as the wind will stay strong from the west 20-30mph. With the warm, dry air will continue to make it another high wildfire risk.

TONIGHT: Calmer wind from the west 5-15mph. Mostly cloudy, low near 40.

THIS WEEKEND: Staying mild with highs in the 70s. It will stay mostly cloudy with a few breaks through out Saturday. Mostly to partly sunny Sunday with a stronger wind returning later in the afternoon.

EXTENDED: Staying dry with cooler temperatures cooling in the 60s to start the week with lows in the 30s. The wind will stay strong Monday then calmer the rest of the week.

Join us on Good Day Lubbock until 9AM, Matt will bring you the latest update tonight on the News at Nine. Have a great Friday and weekend!
