UPDATE: Littlefield Police respond to school threats

Posted: Updated:

Chief Ross Hester with Littlefield PD announced there is no threat.

Reports show this an ongoing issue between two minors. The threat stems from a photo of a girl holding a gun posted several years ago. The text in the photo was altered to indicate the girl was going to open fire on a local school.

The incident is still under investigation.

Please be aware that the Littlefield Police Department has been notified of the rumors about threats being posted on Facebook and other social media outlets to Littlefield Schools.

Our officers have followed up on the information being posted and contact has been made with the named parties family.

As of the current time there is no viable threat. The situation is being closely monitored by local agencies and authorities. Littlefield ISD officials are being kept informed.

As an added measure of security, and to calm the fears of our community and our children, Littlefield Police Officers will be in and around all school campuses as much as possible.

We are asking members of the community, students, and parents to not add unsubstantiated rumors to the social media posts. However; if you have any actual information, or screenshots of posts or threats on social media of any kind relating to this matter please contact the Littlefield Police Department at 806-385-5161.

As always, we are here to serve the people of the city of Littlefield.
