Mild and breezy Tuesday, cold mid-week

Posted: Updated:
LUBBOCK, Texas -

WINDY DAY: We've had gusts around 40 to 50mph across the South Plains this afternoon. And it's warm...70s and even a few low 80s.

TONIGHT: Partly cloudy, low near 45. Steady W/SW wind 10-20mph.

low temp forecast

TUESDAY: Not quite as warm and not as windy. But it'll still be mild and breezy, high near 69, mostly sunny. Wind W/SW 10-20mph.

high temp forecast

COLD FRONT: We'll be greeted with a gusty NE wind early Wednesday morning. This is the next front moving across the area. Wednesday afternoon it'll likely stay in the 30s with a lot of clouds. Thursday afternoon should climb to the mid 40s.

There will be some weak support for drizzle or freezing drizzle on Wednesday. The better chance is east of U.S. 83/Childress to Abilene. But we can't rule some out here. Then on Thursday there is a little bit better support across our area for some light showers. At this point we have a slight chance for rain on Thursday. It might be cold enough for some freezing rain, especially north of Lubbock. Amounts look light.

WEEKEND: Right now we're expecting a breezy and mild weekend. There are some differences in the modeling, showing the possibility cooler air moves back in. For now the weekend forecast is fairly uncertain.

7-day forecast

Have a great rest of your day. Whitney will have a full update to the forecast here early tomorrow.
