Plainview man named Paramedic of the Year

South Plains EMS has named a Plainview man its Paramedic of the Year.

Bryan Merrick serves as a paramedic with both Plainview's fire and EMS service.

Fire Chief Rusty Powers presented the award, citing Merrick's dedication to providing outstanding patient care, his willingness to help others and his role as an advocate for his patients.

Merrick has spent 22 years at Plainview Fire. He also volunteered for deployment to the coast during Hurricane Harvey relief.
