• Andres Ramirez had his first three-point game of his career with a goal and an assist.
• Cody Graves opened the scoring and is credited with the game winning goal.
• Fernando Rios produced four saves en route to his second shutout of the season (back-to-back games) and of his career.
• The Chaps struck first, getting Graves to score in the game's 68th minute, as 22:22 remained in the game
• Ramirez tallied an insurance goal with 2:51 remaining for his first goal of the season. LCU had the man-advantage on the goal, as RSU's Kevin Kwarteng received a second yellow card, resulting in a red card and the send-off, with 8:50 remaining.
• Rios made four saves for the shutout, with three coming in the second half.
• The game was the home opener and the Heartland Conference opener for LCU. They improve to 6-1-0 all-time in home openers, 5-1-1 in conference openers and 3-1-0 Heartland Conference openers.
• The shutout win was LCU's second of the season and they come in consecutive games for the first time since Oct.19 and Oct. 22 of last season. It was LCU's 25th shutout in program history (13th at home) and the second under head coach Paul Gilbert.
• The Chaps are 18-8-0 all-time in Heartland Conference contests and 7-6-0 all-time in Heartland Conference home games (LCU went 1-3-0 last season at home in conference play).
• Ramirez extended his streak of minutes played and has played in all 450 minutes of the season (the most by a Chaps non-goalkeeper this season).
• LCU is now 5-1-2 all-time against RSU and 3-1-1 all-time as the home team against the Hillcats.
• The Chaparrals, improving to 1-0-0 at home this season, are now 27-15-7 all-time at home overall. It was their first home win since Oct. 3, 2015, ending a three-game home winless streak.
20 – LCU entered the game with 29 shots on the season and 12 shots on goal (through four games). Thursday they produced 20 shots and 10 shots on goal. Erwin Regules, making his LCU debut, co-led LCU (with Ramirez) with five shots. Ramirez led LCU with four on goal.
