LPD teamed up with the YWCA to play basketball against some of the Y-100 youth to grow the connection between cops and kids.
Glenda Mathis, CEO of the YWCA Lubbock said this was a great opportunity to show teens there are people that are supporting them.
"One of the things we know about teenagers is they don't really think the community values them," Mathis said. "So it was so awesome for the Lubbock Police Department and their officers to come out and give them the opportunity to see first hand how much we support them, but it gives them the opportunity to just have a good time and recognize that everybody is here to support them."
The Y-100 is a leadership program for students in middle school and high school.
