Weather Story

Another picture-perfect day here in San Diego. Temperatures at the coast are just right (mid-70's) and to make it even better, the water temperatures are in the low-70's. The sky is clear thanks to the early retreat of the marine and the air dry.

The reason for this change is thanks to an upper-level low pressure system. It is helping to bring in dry and comfortable onshore winds, but it won't last long.

The monsoonal weather pattern is shaping up again. Right now, the sub-tropical high pressure system is settled over Texas, but by Wednesday -Friday it will expand west towards San Diego. That means warm, muggy weather and thunderstorms are on the way.

The best chance for these T'storms will be over the mountains and deserts. Less of a chance for the coast and inland areas, however, I'm still calling for a 20% chance in these spots.

Today also marks a year since the death of 20 year old, Nick Fagnano, who died after a lightning strike at Venice Beach in Los Angeles. Please stay safe and use caution when there is lightning. In-the-water is one of the most dangerous places to be, but even wet feet on a sandy beach is a danger. The safest thing to do is take shelter indoors.

TODAY'S WATER SAVING TIP

State-ordered water use cuts are in effect. Every drop you save adds up to make a BIG difference. Wash only full loads of clothes and dishes to save more water. When in drought, save every day, every way. Learn more at whenindrought.org.
